Data acquired for the UK Data Service collection undergo rigorous and comprehensive curation prior to publishing and release. This ensures that data, documentation and metadata are processed and published to the highest standard possible, both for ease of use in secondary analysis and for archival preservation.
The curation procedures carried out depend on the individual nature of each dataset and document, but as a general guide the following tasks are always undertaken:The Data Collection is available to UK Data Service registered users subject to the End User Licence Agreement.
Commercial use is not permitted.
All requests are subject to a set of Special Licence forms being completed by the User and are subject to the approval of the data owner or his/her nominee.
All requests are subject to agreement by the User to the following additional condition of use:
No publication of statistical tables, maps or any other documents, which show information relating to less than 5 farms in any cell, or of tables, maps or any other documents from which such information can be deduced.
Under the terms and conditions of use as specified in the End User Licence and the Special Licence Declaration, these data must be destroyed at the end of the access period. This include all copies of the data; electronic copies, temporary copies, CDs, printed copies, back-ups, subsets of variables/cases and any derived data. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in future requests for access to data being denied
