DATA CURATION PROCEDURES

Data acquired for the UK Data Service collection undergo rigorous and comprehensive curation prior to publishing and release. This ensures that data, documentation and metadata are processed and published to the highest standard possible, both for ease of use in secondary analysis and for archival preservation.

The curation procedures carried out depend on the individual nature of each dataset and document, but as a general guide the following tasks are always undertaken:

NEW EDITION INFORMATION

For the second edition (March 2019) data and documentation for survey years, 2005, 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 have been added.

INFORMATION ON CONDITION OF USE

The Data Collection is available to users registered with the UK Data Service.

Commercial use is not permitted.

Use of the data requires approval from the data owner or their nominee. Registered users must apply for access via a Secure Access application.

Registered users must complete the Safe Researcher Training course.

Registered users must have a UK Higher Education or Further Education affiliation and must be based in the UK when accessing data.

The Data Collection must be accessed via a secure connection method in a safe environment approved by the UK Data Service.
