UK DATA ARCHIVE DOCUMENTATION SN:672 - Protest, Dissatisfaction and Change, 1973-1974 During 2014, this study was recatalogued in response to a user request, having been previously decatalogued as the ASCII data and documentation did not match. Extra coding sheets were discovered in the rf miscellaneous section, which provided a data coding map, although parts of it were barely legible. The data have been reconstructed using the questionnaire, codebook, data coding map and previous SPSS syntax. Some variables do contain unlabelled codes and have no matching documentation. Specific variable notes are detailed below. They should be analysed with caution. DATA NOTES *Variable LIFE11B - (Q11, p.37 of user guide) 'Life in what way different from parents' contains unlabelled values that do no correspond to the codes given in documentation. The 146 occurrences of code 1 *may* correspond to code A in the documentation, 'more materially secure'. *Variable SUPERVISORHOH - (Q90, p.31 of user guide) contains values that do not correspond to the documentation. *Variable Q103BS (Sex of third other household member belonging to trade union) should have values of 1 'Male' and 2 'Female', but the values present are 2, 3 and 4, which do not match the documentation. *Variables named ADDHHCOMP (Additional household composition) - there is no documentation available for some of these variables, so value labels cannot currently be added. DOCUMENTATION Users should note that some pages of the user guide are difficult to read, due to the condition of the original paper copies.
