5694 - Electronic Edition of Domesday Book: Translation, Databases and Scholarly Commentary, 1086 Data Set Type ============= Database files (6 files) Data files (30 files) Plain text (113 files) Data Set Format =============== The following data formats have been prepared by the History Data Service: Microsoft Access2003 (6 files, containing 23 tables and 7 queries) AND Rich Text Format files (113 files) OR Tab delimited text files (30 files) AND Rich Text Format files (113 files) If requested, data may have been supplied in other formats where practicable. Documentation ============= The master documentation file is called 'guide' and can be found in the mrdoc folder in either *.rtf or *.pdf formats. In this document you will find the necessary information to understand and interpret the contents of this data collection. The document 'important_information', also located in the mrdoc folder provides an overview of the contents of this collection as well as some notes about other available resources involving Domesday Book related materials. Using the Data ============== The data for this resource are of two different sorts. If you have downloaded the MSAccess2003 version of the data you will have: Six MSAccess2003 files in the folded 'access' and 113 files containing textual material (in *.rtf format) kept in four different folders according to their content. These folders are: 'appendix', 'introduction', 'notes' and 'statistic_notes'. If you have downloaded the tab version of the data you will have: 30 tab delimited (tab) files containing the same statistical information contained in the MSAccess data above but kept in a format that can be used with various other statistical packages and across different computational platforms, and the same 113 rich text format files mentioned above.
