The following data formats have been prepared by the History Data
Service.

If requested, data may have been supplied in other formats where
practicable.



Data Notes
==========
The files "table_99up1.tab", "table_99up2.tab", "table_99up3.tab" and
"table_99up4.tab" were created from a single deposited file "table_99up.doc"
(Microsoft Word).

table_99up3.tab     Staffordshire landowners whose estates were overlooked in
                    the return  
table_99up4.tab     Staffordshire residents with estates outside the county but
                    no freehold land within 

Users may wish to examine either the file "table_99up.rtf" or the equivalent
file "table_99up.pdf" to see how the data was originally presented. The file
"table_99up.rtf", or the equivalent file "table_99up.pdf", CONTAINS SOME NOTES
TO THE TABLES THAT ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE DERIVED FILES "table_99up1.tab",
"table_99up2.tab", "table_99up3.tab" and "table_99up4.tab".

Also, three records have been edited and added to "table_99up4.tab" in the form:

Open either of the files "table_99up.rtf" or "table_99up.pdf" to see the
original form this data took.

Linebreaks in the field "Corrected outside Staffordshire and notes" found in
the file "table_99up.rtf" or the equivalent file "table_99up.pdf", have been
replaced by the text "<B/>" in the files "table_99up1.tab", "table_99up2.tab",
"table_99up3.tab" and "table_99up4.tab".



Using the Data
==============
Users opening files "table_99up1.tab", "table_99up2.tab", "table_99up3.tab" or
"table_99up4.tab" should make sure that each field in the files is defined as
text to avoid data-type format problems in software such as Microsoft Excel.
