Data Set Format
===============
The following data formats have been prepared by the History Data
Service.

tab delimited text files (8 files)

If requested, data may have been supplied in other formats where
practicable.



Data Notes
==========
The files "cor1863.tab" and "cor1865.tab" do not contain a record with
the value 306 for the field "number".

Two values for the field "number" were changed. In "cor1859.tab", the
value in row 382 was changed from 281 to 381. In "cor1862.tab" the value
in row 499 was changed from 498 to 398.



Documentation
=============
This read file consitutes the only documentation available for this
study.

The files "cor1859.tab", "cor1862.tab", "cor1863.tab", "cor1864.tab" and
"cor1865.tab" contain partial transcriptions of information from the
Register of Inquests 1854-1865, 1 volume, reference 347 COR 1, Liverpool
Record Office.

The file "coroners_court.tab" contains additional records for the years
1854-56, from the same source.

The file "lpscc.tab" contains transcriptions of cases between 1912 and
1914 taken from the Register of Prosecutions 1 volume, reference 179 CRU
6/1, Liverpool Record Office.

The file "strangeways.tab" contains a partial transcription of the
Female Register, Strangeways Prison 1 volume, reference M600/,
Manchester Central Library, Archival Unit. The file contains details of
women imprisoned for violence.
