Abstract:

The Family Resources Survey, 1979 is a follow-up to the Family Finances Survey, 1978 (FFS), conducted by the Department of Health and Social Security. All low-income families interviewed in the FFS were resurveyed 12 months later to look for changes or otherwise in financial circumstances. (The 1978 FFS is not currently available from the UK Data Archive).

Main Topics:

The interview schedules used were very similar to those used in the original FFS interview but included in addition some qualitative measures of deprivation. However, the follow-up survey does not include expenditure diaries. See documentation for details (the FFS documentation is included within the user guide for this study).
